The giraffe stag beetle is the largest of all stag beetles species, they range in size from 3.5 cm-12.4 cm including jaws (carnivoraforum.com) They live in a large area of South East Asia, from India to Indonesia (carnivoraforum.com). The beetles inhabit tropical rain forests. The adult beetles eat tree sap, while the larvae feed on decaying hardwood (carnivoraforum.com). The large jaws of the beetle are used for mating display purposes. The males will duel with their jaws, with the winner getting to mate.
