Lindsey Bessanson started making insect jewelry in 2003. Lindsey initially cast her insects in silver, but she started to think that casting them in silver robbed the insects of their natural color and beauty, so she started to make clockwork insects. Lindsey realized that the insects were most beautiful when left as they were while living.
Lindsey Bessanson has shown that insects can be made into beautiful art. Insects effect the lives of humans quite a bit; they pollinate plants, are a source of food, can be used for medicine, and many other things. Insects have been used a variety of ways in art, and now Lindsey has used insects as a medium to create very unique art.
